Actress Jaime King has broken her silence after neither she nor her son, whom Taylor Swift is godmother to, attended the pop star's recent wedding to NFL player Travis Kelce. The ceremony, held at Madison Square Garden, was a large event with approximately 1,000 guests.

King's publicist, Jane Owen, explained that King's youngest son, Leo, is "still too young for a large adult wedding celebration." Owen added that King and Leo were able to "joyfully celebrate Taylor and Kelce's marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break." According to Owen, King chose Swift as Leo's godmother because of Swift's deeply personal and spiritual approach to the commitment, emphasizing that it is "nothing to do with public appearances."

Swift and Kelce's wedding festivities included notable guests such as Hugh Grant, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, and Bradley Cooper. Sir Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks performed during the event. Swift's brother, Austin Swift, served as her Man of Honor, and Travis Kelce's brother, Jason Kelce, was the Best Man. The ceremony was officiated by friend Adam Sandler.

Swift and King developed a close friendship in the 2010s, with King's then-husband directing the music video for Swift's song "Style" in 2014. The following year, Swift became godmother to King's son Leo. In 2015, King described Swift as an "ideal godmother" due to her loving, giving, and authentic nature.

However, the status of their friendship shifted. In March of the previous year, it was reported that King and Swift did not have "regular contact," though a source noted that "there is still love." It was also revealed at that time that Swift would still send presents to Leo and would be available if needed. This information emerged after King lost custody of her two children following her divorce from Kyle Newman. In March of the previous year, Newman was granted sole physical custody of their sons, with King required to undergo a drug and alcohol program before having supervised visits.

Swift and Kelce's wedding saw the Empire State Building lit in blue, and ad billboards at Madison Square Garden displayed "JusT&T married." The wedding outfits for the bride and groom were designed by Christian Dior Haute Couture, with shoes by Christian Louboutin and jewelry by Cartier.
