The incident occurred as Hines-Allen attempted to retrieve the ball from his teammate, Travis Hunter, who had just secured his first career interception. The Jaguars won the game decisively, improving their record.

Video footage circulating on social media captured the heated exchange. Hines-Allen approached the staffer who had picked up the ball, intending to secure it for Hunter. However, the staffer refused to hand it over, leading to a physical altercation. "You can’t touch me! Hey! He pushed me!" the staffer was heard yelling in the clip. The situation involved yelling and pushing between Hines-Allen and the staffer.

While players typically receive balls that mark significant career achievements, the staffer may not have recognized the ball's importance to Hunter. NFL equipment staffers are not mandated to give any specific ball to a player, though it is a common practice for milestone balls. The staffer's reaction was described as visceral, and the physical contact could potentially lead to a fine for Hines-Allen, irrespective of the staffer's response.

Hines-Allen did not comment on the postgame incident. Hunter, however, expressed his excitement about the interception, stating, "It felt great, but I was on to the next play." He added that the event occurred in the second quarter and he needed to focus on finishing the game. Hunter, who initially joined the Jaguars as a wide receiver with the expectation of playing defense sparingly, has since become a full-time defensive player due to the team's depth at wide receiver. He now sees limited offensive snaps per game.

It remains unclear whether Hunter ultimately received the ball from the game.
