Free agent pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney visited the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, exploring a possible reunion with the team, according to NFL Network.
Cleveland.com reported that the Browns are strongly considering re-signing Clowney, who previously played for the team in 2021 and 2022. Clowney spent the 2025 season with the Dallas Cowboys. During his two seasons with Cleveland, he recorded 11 sacks, with nine coming in 2021 while playing alongside Myles Garrett. His production decreased in 2022, with only two sacks.
Clowney's tenure with the Browns ended with friction near the conclusion of the 2022 season, when he expressed dissatisfaction, stating the team prioritized Garrett's accolades over winning games. He later apologized for his remarks.
The 33-year-old Clowney was the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. His career has included stints with the Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, Browns, and Cowboys. He has accumulated 66.5 career sacks over 12 seasons and has been a two-time Pro Bowl selection, also earning Second Team All-Pro honors in 2016.
Despite the Browns acquiring Jared Verse in a trade involving Myles Garrett, the team's pass rush may still benefit from a veteran presence. Clowney could provide experienced depth to a relatively young Browns defense.
