Jacob Elordi to Narrate Late "Euphoria" Co-Star Eric Dane's Posthumous Memoir
Actor Jacob Elordi will lend his voice to the audiobook of "My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments," the posthumous memoir of the late Eric Dane.
Jacob Elordi will serve as the principal narrator for the audiobook of "My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments," the posthumous memoir of his late "Euphoria" castmate Eric Dane.
Dane, who died in February at age 53 following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), played the father of Elordi's character, Nate Jacobs, on the HBO series.
A representative for Penguin Random House confirmed Elordi's role to Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday.
Maria Shriver is also involved in the project, with her imprint The Open Field publishing the memoir. Shriver herself narrates a "Dear Reader" chapter she penned.
Shriver had previously shared her heartbreak over Dane's passing, noting his courage in speaking about his ALS diagnosis. "He used his voice to let the world know what it was like living with ALS," she wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
"He told me he wanted his family to know how much he loved them, and he wanted to leave them a story they could be proud of," Shriver added, stating she was honored Dane chose The Open Field for his memoir.
"My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments" is scheduled for release on November 3.
In excerpts published by People, Dane detailed a harrowing incident from his ALS battle in which he nearly drowned. The actor recounted how his youngest daughter, Georgia, and her friend rescued him while on vacation in Antigua after his diagnosis in 2024. He described the moment he realized he could no longer swim and was not safe in the water.
"When I jumped into the ocean that day and realized I couldn't swim and generate enough power to get myself back to the boat," Dane said in a June 2025 appearance on "Good Morning America," "I thought, 'Oh God.'"
He recalled that Georgia "dragged [him] back to the boat." Following the incident, Dane contacted his estranged wife, Rebecca Gayheart, who is also mother to their two daughters, Billie Beatrice, 16, and Georgia, 14.
"She explodes into tears and I weep with her. We cry together," Dane wrote of his conversation with Gayheart. "Finally, the tears slow, become reduced to gasps, and when we're both cried out, Rebecca says, 'I was afraid of this day. I knew it would come. I've been dreading it.'"
Dane and Gayheart were married in 2004 and filed for divorce in 2018, though the split was never finalized. They remained close, particularly amid his illness.
Dane's passing came less than nine months after his death. A spokesperson for the actor stated at the time that he spent his final days surrounded by family and friends and that he had become a passionate advocate for ALS awareness and research.
