Jacob Elordi Pleads for Privacy from Paparazzi, Faces Scrutiny Over Gala Sunglasses
The actor released an audio clip detailing his frustration with persistent photographers while also drawing criticism for wearing sunglasses indoors at a prominent event.
Jacob Elordi has publicly expressed his desire for privacy, pleading with a persistent paparazzo in a leaked audio clip to stop following him. The Australian actor, 29, stated in the recording that he was merely driving with his dogs and had no intention of posing for photographs, urging the photographer to seek out individuals more amenable to attention.
"There's no point in doing this. I'm not gonna get out of the car. You're not gonna get a photo of me. It's not gonna happen, so there's really no point," Elordi stated in the clip, which was posted on Deuxmoi. He clarified that his girlfriend, Kendall Jenner, was not with him and emphasized his desire to be left alone.
"I'm not the one. I'm not with my girlfriend. I'm driving with my dogs. Like, it's just not the day," he explained. Elordi further elaborated that he intended to return to a gated community, indicating there would be no opportunity for photographs. He suggested the photographer focus on other individuals in areas like West Hollywood who might welcome the attention.
"I understand it. I get your bid. I get you're doing what you do, but I'm not gonna have it happen," Elordi continued. "I'm gonna spend my whole life not letting it happen. So there's people that you can go and get, and you're gonna make your cash from. I'm just not the one."
The exchange concluded politely, with the photographer reportedly respecting Elordi's position. The exact date and circumstances of the recording have not been established.
Separately, Elordi drew attention for wearing sunglasses indoors at the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles. He attended the event with Jenner, and while the couple walked the red carpet separately, they reunited inside. Elordi's choice to keep his sunglasses on inside the gala, where he was photographed in a tuxedo, led to criticism from some observers who found the gesture attention-seeking or arrogant.
Jenner wore a custom Valentino polka dot gown to the event. The couple, who were first linked in February, have largely kept their relationship out of the public eye, though their appearance at the gala offered a rare glimpse of their connection.
