Jackson Chourio's First-Pitch Home Run Sparks Fan Reactions
Brewers' rookie Jackson Chourio ignited social media with a leadoff home run against Blake Snell in Game 3 of the NLCS.
Jackson Chourio wasted no time in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series, launching a leadoff home run on the first pitch he saw from Blake Snell. The Milwaukee Brewers' rookie sent a 97.6 mph four-seam fastball 391 feet over the right-center fence on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, giving his team an early 1-0 lead.
Snell, however, recovered quickly, striking out the next three batters on 12 pitches. Despite the initial setback, Chourio's blast quickly became a topic of discussion online.
Following the event, MLB posted a video of Chourio's home run on X, formerly Twitter, where fans reacted with a mix of praise for the rookie and playful jabs at the Dodgers. DraftKings Sports shared an image of Aragorn from "Lord of The Rings" preparing for battle, captioned, "Jackson Chourio taking on the Dodgers." Budweiser also commented, "HE WAS READY TO PLAY TONIGHT." Chourio is batting .300 against the Dodgers in the NLCS.
Other social media users focused on Snell's pitch, with one user calling it a "meatball sub." Another user commented on the broadcast, with one fan posting a GIF of a weary SpongeBob SquarePants and questioning play-by-play announcer Joe Davis's awareness of the Brewers players. Another user questioned if Davis "totally missed that 1st pitch HR."
Before the game, Snell had expressed to Dylan Hernandez of the California Post his desire for redemption in Game 3, following a disappointing outing in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Braves. Snell aimed to improve his image after his previous performance.
