Jackie 'O' Henderson is reportedly suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a result of alleged bullying by her former co-host Kyle Sandilands and ARN's failure to provide adequate support, according to a medical report filed in Federal Court.
Dr. Jonathan Phillips stated in the report that Henderson's PTSD arose from "the ongoing bullying perpetrated by Sandilands" and "the failure of ARN to offer appropriate care and protection." Henderson, in a sworn statement, described Sandilands, her former KIIS FM co-host, as "unpredictable and erratic" and claimed he "belittled" and "humiliated" her. She stated that his constant criticism "was slowly wearing me down," leading to exhaustion and a desire to give up.
Henderson reported that the alleged mistreatment intensified from 2023 onward, causing her to feel anxious. "I often drove to work with a low level sense of anxiety and dread, which caused me to feel worn down over time," she said in her statement. "The cumulative effect was that I felt emotionally unsafe in the workplace, even during periods where the relationship appeared outwardly positive."
These mental health concerns were detailed in documents released Tuesday amid Henderson's legal dispute with ARN. She is seeking an $82 million payout for the remainder of her contract, which was terminated in March following a public on-air argument with Sandilands. The notes indicate Sandilands is not a party to this lawsuit.
Kyle Sandilands is expected to address Henderson's claims on his new radio show, "Kyle Sandilands Live," on Monday. A representative for Sandilands indicated he would discuss the allegations on his program. Sandilands himself has recently faced health challenges, including high blood pressure and an aneurysm, which led to his absence from his new show. His manager, Bruno Bouchet, stated Sandilands was resting on doctor's orders.
The launch of "Kyle Sandilands Live" has been marked by technical difficulties and a rocky start, with the debut episode experiencing glitches that forced an emergency shutdown. The show's team has openly acknowledged the initial problems, even humorously titling a subsequent episode "Hopefully today's better..." This venture marks Sandilands' return to radio after the dissolution of the "Kyle and Jackie O Show" and his subsequent settlement with ARN.
