Jack Osbourne and Wife Aree Raise Five Children Without a Nanny
The couple has found a rhythm in managing their busy household, even as they navigate family grief.
Jack Osbourne has revealed that he and his wife, Aree Osbourne, are raising their five children without the assistance of a nanny. The couple has managed to establish a routine for their household, despite the demands of a large family.
"Yeah. So we don’t do the nanny thing," Osbourne told People magazine during an event in Los Angeles. "I thought it was going to be way gnarlier than it is, but you find a rhythm."
Aree, who is a stay-at-home mother, and Jack share two daughters: Maple, 4, and Ozzy Matilda, 6 months. Jack is also father to Pearl, 14, Andy, 11, and Minnie, 8, from his previous marriage to Lisa Stelly.
The couple recently celebrated Maple’s first day of preschool, with Jack humorously referring to his youngest daughter, Ozzy Matilda, as her "emotional support squad" in a social media post.
Osbourne has previously stated that his parenting style is more structured than that of his own parents, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. "I’m a little more structured with my kids than my parents were with me," he told People magazine in an earlier interview. "I won’t take them out of school just to go travel. We do a little bit, but I think structure is healthy."
The youngest daughter, Ozzy Matilda, was welcomed by Jack and Aree in March. The name honors Jack’s late father, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July. Jack shared in a December interview with The Sun that informing his father of Aree’s pregnancy brought a sense of hope during a difficult grieving period for the family.
"It’s awesome," he said of the pregnancy. "I think it’s been partly a healthy distraction, partly healing — probably in that kind of ‘full cycle’ category, in a weird way. It’s very much taken energy out of the grieving side of things and parked in a bit more hopefulness."
Jack’s sister, Kelly Osbourne, has also spoken about the family's grief and the public scrutiny she faced following their father's death. In an interview with Hello!, Kelly, 41, discussed the cruel comments she received about her appearance while mourning, stating, "I didn’t navigate it — I wasn’t well. How can you navigate something so cruel when you’re so sick?"
Kelly, who is a mother to a 3-year-old son, Sidney, has emphasized her focus on healing both mentally and physically, describing it as "a lifetime of work."
Jack himself has also addressed public commentary regarding his appearance. In a 2023 Instagram video, he responded to articles that body-shamed him for being underweight, explaining that his weight had remained consistent since his appearance on "I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!" six months prior. He noted that the only change was shaving his beard and growing a mustache. He later expressed frustration over continued criticism about his weight, both when he was overweight and when he reached a healthy weight, telling critics they could "get f--ked."
