Jack Nicholson No Longer Acting, Says Michael Douglas

Jack Nicholson, the celebrated actor known for his iconic roles, is no longer working and has retired from acting, according to his close friend Michael Douglas.

Douglas, 82, shared this news during an appearance in South Wales where he was promoting his memoir. He stated that while Nicholson, 89, is doing well and remains active in his personal life, he will not be appearing in front of cameras again. Douglas mentioned he still sees Nicholson, who lives near his home and walks around in his slippers.

Nicholson, who has won three Academy Awards for his performances in "Terms of Endearment," "As Good as It Gets," and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," has not made a public statement about his retirement. He made a rare public appearance last year at the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special, which sparked renewed interest in his career.

In 2017, Nicholson was slated to star in a remake of the German comedy "Toni Erdmann," but he withdrew from the project, leading to its derailment. A 2013 Vanity Fair article quoted Nicholson as saying he did not consider himself retired but was simply less driven to "be out there any more."

Nicholson's last film was the 2010 romantic comedy "How Do You Know," directed by James L. Brooks, who had previously expressed optimism about Nicholson potentially returning to the screen. However, Douglas's recent comments suggest that chapter is now closed.
