Jack Lowden Filming 'Slow Horses' Amidst James Bond Speculation
Actor seen on set for Apple TV+ series following intense fan and industry speculation about him potentially succeeding Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.
Actor Jack Lowden has been spotted filming the eighth series of the Apple TV+ spy drama "Slow Horses" in East London, just a week after the seventh series finale aired. This filming activity comes amidst considerable speculation that Lowden, who plays River Cartwright in the show, is a frontrunner to take over the iconic role of James Bond from Daniel Craig.
In the closing moments of "Slow Horses" series six, Lowden's character, River Cartwright, was seemingly poisoned by Russian assassins. However, exclusive footage obtained by The Mail on Sunday shows Lowden back in action, suggesting Cartwright may have survived the ordeal.
Lowden, 36, is among several actors reportedly being considered for the next James Bond film, which is set to be produced by Amazon MGM Studios. The race for the role is said to be progressing, with screen tests reportedly having taken place at Bray Studios in Berkshire.
Fellow "Slow Horses" star Gary Oldman has publicly endorsed Lowden for the Bond role, describing him as "young, he's masculine, he's incredibly funny." Lowden's co-star Olivia Cooke was also seen filming the new series alongside him.
However, reports suggest a potential conflict between Amazon, which owns the Bond franchise, and Apple TV+, which produces "Slow Horses," as both companies are reportedly interested in securing Lowden's services. This situation has led to speculation about whether Lowden can portray Bond while continuing his role as Cartwright.
