Former Navy SEAL sniper and bestselling author Jack Carr is venturing into unscripted television with a new three-part docuseries for Fox Nation, titled "Jack Carr Investigates: Carlos the Jackal." The series, which premiered on June 29, examines the life of Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, a Venezuelan militant responsible for numerous terrorist attacks in the 20th century.
Carr, known for his military expertise and thriller novels like "The Terminal List," will guide viewers through the global manhunt for Carlos the Jackal, detailing how the notorious figure evaded capture for decades. The docuseries features the only known recorded interview with Carlos, offering insight into his motivations and actions. According to Carr, his fascination with the terrorist began in his childhood, driven by an inability to comprehend how international intelligence agencies failed to apprehend him.
"Jack Carr Investigates: Carlos the Jackal" brings together former CIA and FBI officials, along with intelligence experts, to provide firsthand accounts of the investigation. These contributors aim to connect the dots on Carlos's influence on modern terrorism and recount some of his most violent acts, including assassinations, hijackings, and bombings. The series explores how Carlos inspired a new generation of terrorists, some of whom were later targets after the September 11, 2001 attacks, Carr stated.
Fox Nation President Lauren Petterson expressed pride in the platform's collaboration with Carr, highlighting his unique perspective on special operations and national security. She noted that Carr's insights provide an unprecedented look at one of the era's most infamous terrorists and the international efforts to bring him to justice.
Carr's background includes a 20-year military career as a Navy SEAL, where he led sniper and assault teams in Iraq and Afghanistan and directed counterinsurgency operations in the Philippines. His transition to writing led to the New York Times bestseller "The Terminal List," which was adapted into a television series. He has since authored several other novels.
The docuseries was produced in conjunction with Bright North Studios, Kuma Studios, NGI Productions, and Kan 11. Morgan Hertzan, CEO of Bright North Studios USA, remarked on Carr's ability to tell stories rooted in his extensive military and intelligence knowledge, calling him a patriot and a hero. Viewers can watch "Jack Carr Investigates: Carlos the Jackal" exclusively on Fox Nation.
