Jack Antonoff Responds to Marriage Split During Concert
The musician quipped "read the news" when asked to play his wedding song.
Jack Antonoff acknowledged his recent split from Margaret Qualley during a Bleachers concert at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. When a fan requested the song "Let's Get Married," noting it was his wedding song, Antonoff responded with a laugh, "Read the news, brother."
The crowd reacted with laughter to the musician's retort. Antonoff then added that he "love[s] that song" and that he wrote it 11 years ago.
Fans in the comments of a shared video of the moment interpreted Antonoff's remark as the first public confirmation of the divorce. One user wrote, "the first actual confirmation of the divorce."
Page Six confirmed in July that Antonoff, 42, and Qualley, 31, had separated after less than three years of marriage. A source told People at the time that their marriage had been "rocky" and that "they argue a lot," attributing the difficulties to their demanding careers and Antonoff's frequent touring.
Rumors of the split began to circulate when Qualley did not attend Taylor Swift's wedding to Travis Kelce in early July alongside Antonoff. Antonoff attended the wedding with his sister, Rachel. While he was seen wearing his wedding band the day the split news broke, Qualley had begun removing traces of Antonoff from her social media. Her Instagram handle was changed, and photos of their wedding and of her husband were removed.
The couple, who sparked romance rumors in 2021, confirmed their engagement in May 2022. They were last publicly seen together at the Grammy Awards on February 1.
