A large superyacht docked in Marina Del Ray for nearly a week has been identified as belonging to "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling, after arriving shrouded in mystery. The vessel, which local sources confirmed is named Samsara, had its nameplate covered upon entry, a tactic described as unusual by observers.

Despite the owner's apparent attempt at discretion, Rowling's presence had become "the worst-kept secret on the Marina," according to one local. The author has not publicly commented on her arrival in Los Angeles via her social media accounts.

The yacht, built in 2015 by Oceanco, was initially named Infinity by its first owner, Harbor Freight Tools CEO Eric Smidt. It was later sold to Australian billionaire Brett Blundy in 2022 before Rowling acquired it in 2023. The vessel spans 290 feet and is reportedly valued at $150 million. It can accommodate up to 12 guests and 26 crew members, and features amenities such as a swimming pool, a movie theater, and a beach club.

Locals noted that covering the yacht's nameplate is a measure sometimes taken to avoid attracting protesters, a practice reportedly observed when the yacht was present in May. Data from Marine Traffic confirms the vessel's current location in the Marina.

Rowling's "Harry Potter" book series is one of the best-selling in history, with hundreds of millions of copies sold worldwide. Her literary success has led to multiple film adaptations and an upcoming television series.
