J.J. McCarthy Shares Pre-Game Moment with Wife Ahead of Giants' Home Debut
The quarterback received support from his wife, Katya, on the sidelines before his strong performance in Sunday's game.
New York Giants quarterback J.J. McCarthy shared a touching moment with his wife, Katya, on the sidelines before his home debut at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Katya posted a video of the embrace on her Instagram story, with the caption “Love you❤️🔥❤️🔥.”
McCarthy, who was traded to the Giants from the Vikings in September, entered the game after Jaxson Dart sustained a knee injury. The Giants acquired McCarthy for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick.
In his first significant playing time with the Giants, McCarthy nearly led a comeback against the Saints. He threw for 243 yards in the fourth quarter, the second-highest total for a non-starter in that period over the past 25 seasons, according to ESPN. Despite his efforts, the Giants ultimately lost the game 34-27.
McCarthy and Katya, who married in April, have been together since their high school days. He proposed to her in January 2024, shortly after winning a national championship with Michigan. Their first child, son Rome Micah, was born in September 2025, and the couple married later that year in Mexico.
Katya has been a consistent supporter of McCarthy throughout his career, including his transition to the Giants. Following Sunday's game, she shared photos from a local restaurant and a video of their son Rome watching his father play.
