The outfit featured a dress with four square pockets on the chest and hips, complemented by a matching cape with bell sleeves, both adorned with intricate white embroidery.
Trump wore her hair in a sleek chignon for the occasion. Her daughter, Arabella Kushner, who accompanied her, wore a white belted midi dress by Self-Portrait.
The choice of Guo Pei highlights the designer's prominence, as she is widely recognized as one of China's most celebrated fashion designers. Pei gained significant international attention in 2015 when singer Rihanna wore one of her creations to the Met Gala. The canary yellow gown, featuring a fur-trimmed cape and extensive embroidery, was designed in homage to that year's theme, "China: Through the Looking Glass," and became a viral sensation.
Blue appeared to be a theme for attendees at the event, with Vice President JD Vance wearing a cobalt tie and his wife, Usha Vance, wearing a matching cobalt blue silk dress by Saloni. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other officials were also present during the arrival ceremonies.
