Ivan Toney's Assault Case Adjourned, English Striker to Appear in Court Next Week
The England World Cup striker faces charges following an incident in a London nightclub.
England footballer Ivan Toney is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court next Thursday, as his assault case has been adjourned. The 30-year-old player, currently with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm on July 31, stemming from an incident at a Soho nightclub on December 6.
Toney, who was a notable inclusion in Thomas Tuchel's England World Cup squad last summer, played a role in the team's campaign, appearing as a late substitute in the semi-final against Argentina and starting the third-place play-off against France. He transferred to Al-Ahli in August 2024 from Brentford for a reported £40 million, having previously scored 72 goals in 141 appearances for the London club.
This legal matter follows Toney's return to play after a ban for gambling offenses, during which he missed the first half of the 2023-24 season. His representative previously stated that Toney acknowledges the charge and intends to clear his name in court.
