Ivan Toney's Assault Case Adjourned; Court Appearance Set for Next Week
England striker Ivan Toney is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court next Thursday following the adjournment of his assault case.
England footballer Ivan Toney will appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court next Thursday after his assault case was adjourned.
The 30-year-old, who plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm on July 31 following an incident in a Soho nightclub on December 6.
Toney was a surprise selection in Thomas Tuchel's England World Cup squad last summer. He appeared in the semi-final against Argentina as a late substitute and then started the third-place play-off win over France.
The 30-year-old joined Al-Ahli in August 2024 from Brentford for £40million, having scored 72 goals in 141 games for the Bees.
Toney missed the first half of the 2023-24 season due to a gambling ban but went on to feature in England's run to the Euro 2024 final.
At the time of his charge, a spokesperson for Toney said: ‘Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court.’
