Ivan Toney Pleads Not Guilty to Soho Nightclub Assault Charge

England striker Ivan Toney has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The 30-year-old footballer, from Northampton, is accused of headbutting and punching Saber Da Silva at a nightclub on Wardour Street, Soho, on December 6.

Appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court, Toney confirmed his name and age before entering his plea. The case was deemed suitable for trial in the magistrates' court, but Toney elected for a trial in the Crown Court before a judge and jury.

He was released on unconditional bail until his next hearing at Southwark Crown Court, scheduled for October 29. Toney has represented England ten times and was part of the squad for the Euro 2024 finals. He began his professional football career at Northampton Town and has played for several clubs, including Wigan Athletic and Peterborough United, before joining Brentford in 2020. He currently plays for Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli.
