Israeli Ambassador's Son Injured in West Bank Attack
The son of Israel's ambassador to the U.S. was critically injured in a vehicle ramming attack at a West Bank checkpoint.
Neria Leiter, the son of Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter, was critically injured on Wednesday when a Palestinian driver rammed a vehicle into a checkpoint in the West Bank.
The attacker, identified as 29-year-old Mahmoud Muhammad Mahmoud Suleiman, was killed at the scene, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Leiter, serving as an Israeli reserve soldier, was manning the checkpoint near the Beit Horon settlement when the attack occurred.
Leiter was transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem and is in critical condition. His father confirmed the incident on X, stating that his son "needs a miracle." He added, "I believe in the power of prayer and believe that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen."
Ambassador Leiter noted that his son Neria continued reserve duty after the loss of his older brother, Moshe, and has served hundreds of days on various fronts since October 7. "Palestinian terrorism aims to uproot the people of Israel from its land," the ambassador stated. "They choose death—we choose life."
