Anthony Durkan, 35, has been convicted of 26 charges of voyeurism after a sustained campaign of predatory behavior in Islington. Durkan was found to have taken hundreds of videos and pictures of women in their homes, often while they were unaware and in various states of undress.
Durkan, who is a father of two, was observed by a neighbor's doorbell camera in January 2026 repeatedly filming through a woman's window with his mobile phone. Weeks later, another woman reported a man recording her through her window; she confronted Durkan, and he fled. The incident was captured on security camera.
A plainclothes police officer arrested Durkan on March 26 while he was again in the act of filming through a window. He was wearing a black hoody and carrying a cigarette and phone. When informed of his arrest for suspicion of voyeurism, Durkan reportedly responded with confusion.
During a police interview, it was revealed that a hidden gallery on Durkan's phone contained 162 videos and 99 photos of women, with almost all showing individuals who appeared unaware they were being filmed. This evidence allowed authorities to link Durkan to offenses dating back to January 2020.
Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger stated that Durkan's actions represented a "serious and sustained course of predatory behaviour." She thanked the victims for coming forward and noted that the conviction means a dangerous individual has been removed from the streets. The Metropolitan Police are working to identify any further victims and are asking the public to report suspicious behavior, such as someone lingering near residential properties or looking through windows, especially in Islington and north London between January 2020 and March 2026. Footage from doorbell or CCTV cameras could be crucial to the ongoing investigation.
Durkan admitted the 26 charges at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court. He is scheduled to be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court at a date yet to be determined.
