Isack Hadjar to Remain Red Bull Driver Through 2027 Season

Isack Hadjar has signed a contract extension with Red Bull, keeping him as a driver for the team through the 2027 season. The 21-year-old Frenchman was promoted to the senior team this year after his debut season with Racing Bulls.

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies described the decision as "an easy one," praising Hadjar's performance both on and off the track. "Since joining us at the start of the year, Isack has been superb on and off track, especially considering this is only his second F1 season," Mekies stated. He added that Hadjar's ability to handle the step up to the senior team with "remarkable composure" was evident from his first weekend.

Hadjar's extension comes after he missed the past three races due to a broken wrist sustained during boxing training. Mekies emphasized that "this extension shows how much we believe in him."

Hadjar expressed his excitement about continuing with the team, noting the organization's scale and ambition. "There are so many talented people at the factory, and you're aware of the privilege of driving for such an incredible team alongside a four-time world champion like Max," he said, referring to teammate Max Verstappen. "I'm constantly looking to listen, learn and push myself further every single day, which only makes me more excited about what lies ahead."

In the current season, Hadjar has shown pace close to Verstappen's, managing to out-qualify the Dutchman three times: in Australia, Japan, and Britain. His best result this season was a third-place finish at the Monaco Grand Prix. On average, Hadjar has been 0.239 seconds slower than Verstappen in qualifying over the first half of the season.

Max Verstappen previously signed a two-year contract extension in August, which will keep him with the team until the end of the 2030 season. Hadjar will return for this weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix following his recovery from injury.
