Steffie Waters, the fiancée of Sydney Swans player Isaac Heeney, has been photographed in Noosa without her engagement ring, appearing visibly distressed as she made an emotional phone call. Waters fled to her sister's property in Queensland as Heeney and four other teammates face severe sanctions from the club.

The players, including Heeney, Chad Warner, Riley Bice, Nick Blakey, and James Jordon, have been stood down for the remainder of the 2026 AFL season. The club determined they breached standards by staying out late, consuming alcohol, and bringing women back to the Pullman East Melbourne hotel early Monday morning. These club sanctions are separate from an ongoing Victoria Police investigation into an alleged sexual assault at the hotel.

Heeney and his teammates have denied any wrongdoing. Waters, described as a prominent figure among the Swans' partners, has maintained a low profile since the incident. Her appearance in Noosa, where she was seen crying and later retreating to a beach in a bikini, comes amid intensifying scrutiny of Heeney's alleged involvement in the hotel incident. The couple, who became engaged in October, had frequently shared their relationship on social media, including details of their home renovations, but associated social media accounts have since been deleted.

Swans captain Callum Mills issued a public apology on behalf of the playing group, expressing disappointment in the players' actions and supporting the club's sanctions. "We take these allegations extremely seriously, and we hope the women involved are getting all the support they deserve," Mills stated. Coach Dean Cox acknowledged the club's culture has been impacted but emphasized the importance of their response.

The Sydney Swans organization has also addressed misinformation, stating that investigations indicate only the five suspended players were in the room in question, not club staff. The club is reportedly considering legal action against reports to the contrary. The five players themselves issued a statement accepting the club's sanction and apologizing for their behavior, focusing on rebuilding trust.
