Iranian President Claims Supreme Leader is Healthy, Met Month Ago
Pezeshkian states Mojtaba Khamenei is 'completely' well, contradicting reports of severe injuries.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian asserted on Thursday that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is in good health and that they met approximately a month ago for an extensive discussion. Pezeshkian told Fox News that the meeting lasted about seven hours, during which they conducted talks.
Khamenei, 56, is reported to have sustained serious injuries in airstrikes on February 28, which occurred at the beginning of the US war against Iran and resulted in the death of his father. He has not made a public appearance or been seen in video footage since assuming the role of supreme leader.
When questioned by Bret Baier, host of "Special Report," about Khamenei's health and capacity to govern, Pezeshkian affirmed that the Supreme Leader is "completely" well. He added that his administration continues to receive directives from Khamenei.
Pezeshkian attributed Khamenei's reclusive behavior since the war's onset to the "lack of security that was created by the action of foreigners... the action of aggressors."
