Iran Warns of 'Unfinished Jobs' in Escalating Tensions with U.S.
Tehran issues a direct threat in response to continued U.S. military actions and rhetoric.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stark warning Sunday, stating the Islamic Republic has "unfinished jobs" to attend to if the United States renews its attacks on the country. The statement comes as a direct response to repeated threats from U.S. President Donald Trump.
Araghchi's comments, posted on X, directly referenced Trump's prior declarations that America would "finish the job" if Iran did not concede and abandon its nuclear ambitions. "Last time you wanted to ‘finish the job’, Iran emerged even stronger. Want to try your luck again?" Araghchi wrote. "Be our guest. But be careful; we have unfinished jobs too."
Iran has previously warned of targeting U.S. interests in the Middle East in retaliation for potential strikes. Previous Iranian actions have affected U.S. military outposts in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman.
The Iranian foreign minister also reiterated threats to attack neighboring Gulf states, a strategy Iran has employed to potentially widen conflict, create instability, and diminish American influence in the region. The U.S. recently reported destroying a suspected Iranian spy vessel near the Gulf of Oman amidst rising tensions.
Araghchi also urged the U.S. to reject Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he accused of instigating the conflict by alleging Iran was nearing nuclear weapon development. "Netanyahu is driving America into another war to stay out of jail, whatever the consequences for Israel — let alone POTUS," Araghchi stated.
Israel is scheduled to hold national elections next week. Netanyahu has sought to extend his long tenure in power.
Earlier on Sunday, Araghchi suggested that the Strait of Hormuz could be fully reopened within days if the U.S. agreed to Iran's terms, including the lifting of oil sanctions and the naval blockade.
