The 26-page directive, addressed to American voters, labels these politicians as "evil, deceitful, and violent" and holds them responsible for the nation's current condition.
This action follows Iran's rejection of a recent proposal aimed at reviving a ceasefire in a conflict that has now entered its eighth month. The proposal involved the U.S. lifting its blockade on Iranian ports and Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days. Mediators from Qatar have since conveyed a U.S. response, but significant disagreements persist regarding the sequence of actions.
The Strait of Hormuz, crucial for global oil transport, saw a significant portion of the world's oil supply before the conflict, and traffic remains heavily impacted. The resulting strain on global energy supplies has led to soaring fuel prices, with the national average for a gallon of regular gas reaching $4.43 on Wednesday, a substantial increase from $3.15 a year prior. Republican insiders express concern that these economic repercussions could jeopardize their control of the House and Senate.
Multiple polls indicate widespread public disapproval of the ongoing war, and Trump's approval ratings have reportedly fallen to their lowest point during his presidency. Trump, however, has maintained that the conflict will conclude soon with Iran's eventual surrender, stating on Tuesday that Tehran was in a weak position and would ultimately concede.
Negotiations have been stalled for months, with the White House demanding that Iran relinquish its enriched uranium stockpile and halt its nuclear program. Iran, in turn, seeks control of the Strait of Hormuz as reparations for damages incurred from American military actions.
