Iran's Revolutionary Guard Urges US Voters to Reject Trump in Midterm Elections

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has published a 25-page letter addressed to the American public, urging them to vote against President Donald Trump in the upcoming midterm elections. The IRGC, which has previously attempted to influence U.S. elections, claims that the president's policies and support for Israel are the primary causes of the ongoing conflict.

"America’s national security and the lives of its service members are entrusted to someone who is not only an inveterate liar but is also an insanely avaricious man whose only motivation in life is the accumulation of greater wealth," stated IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi, according to the report.

The letter contends that Trump has misrepresented Iran's nuclear program, despite international allegations of uranium enrichment exceeding levels needed for power plants. The U.S. and Israel have stated that their actions are aimed at preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The IRGC also challenged its designation as a terrorist group by the U.S. government, asserting that there is no verifiable instance of the organization committing acts of violence against civilians. This claim comes amid accusations that Iran's crackdown on domestic dissent in January resulted in between 7,000 and 30,000 protester deaths, which the regime attributes to foreign instigators.

According to the IRGC's letter, the war is significantly damaging the U.S. economy through high fuel prices. "The US economy is on the precipice of collapse, and yet he keeps on telling Americans that the economy is booming and the prices will soon start coming down," the letter reads. The IRGC believes it can inflict enough economic damage on the U.S. to force concessions, despite facing severe economic strain itself under U.S. sanctions.

Iran's currency has recently fallen to historic lows, and the IRGC spokesman addressed claims that Iran has lost control of the Strait of Hormuz. Mohebbi argued that while small vessels might occasionally pass through, this does not signify the opening of the strait. Maritime tracker Kpler reported that approximately 7 million barrels of oil flow out of the Strait of Hormuz daily, with Persian Gulf crude exports at 72% of pre-war levels.
