Investigators Search California Desert for Missing Sister of SNL Writer

Investigators, including canine units, are searching areas of the Joshua Tree region in connection with the disappearance of Christina Downer, the sister of "Saturday Night Live" writer Jimmy Fowlie. Downer was last seen in December 2025.

The Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery Homicide division is leading the ongoing investigation.

In April, Fowlie publicly stated his belief that his sister was deceased, but law enforcement officials have maintained that the case remains active and is being treated as a missing person investigation.

Fowlie also alleged that someone may have accessed Downer's phone and social media accounts after her disappearance. He suggested these accounts were used to conceal her whereabouts, solicit funds, and create the appearance that she had voluntarily severed contact with others. These claims have not been officially confirmed by the LAPD.

Downer was reportedly last seen in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles.
