Investigators Aware of Potential New Ransom Note in Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Case
The Pima County Sheriff's Department and FBI task force are examining a possible new ransom note in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) and the FBI's task force investigating the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, mother of television host Savannah Guthrie, have been made aware of a possible new ransom note. Investigators are working to determine the credibility of the information, according to a social media post by PCSD.
"Investigators are also aware of social media comments regarding the note and are looking further into the information to determine its credibility," the post stated. A law enforcement source familiar with the case told Fox News that no new notes are currently being treated as credible.
Nancy Guthrie was taken from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1 and has not been seen since. Authorities confirmed she was abducted and did not leave on her own. In July, investigators released two ransom notes related to the kidnapping. The first, sent on February 2, demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency and stated Guthrie was unharmed. A second note, sent four days later, claimed she had died shortly after being kidnapped.
Authorities have struggled to identify a suspect or person of interest despite security camera footage showing a masked man on Guthrie's property. The ransom notes, released in late July, featured a unique writing style, and authorities requested public assistance in identifying the patterns.
