The investigation into the drowning death of two-year-old Ed Oliver, son of Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Ed Oliver, has concluded and been ruled an accident, according to reports. No criminal charges are expected to be filed against Oliver or any other individual.

The tragedy occurred on June 28 when the child, also named Ed, drowned in a swimming pool at the family's home in Texas. Authorities responded to a life-in-danger call after the child's parents discovered him unresponsive in the pool. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Buffalo Bills organization expressed condolences to the family. "On behalf of the entire Buffalo Bills organization, we want to publicly express our condolences to Ed Oliver and his family on the devastating loss of his son," Bills General Manager Brandon Beane stated. "It is an unthinkable tragedy for any parent. We will continue to support Ed and his family as we all grieve this tragic loss."

According to ESPN, the team was aware of the incident since it occurred. Oliver has continued to participate in training camp and played in the Bills' preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. He has reportedly requested privacy and prayers during this difficult time.

Oliver, 28, has been with the Bills since being selected as the ninth overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. He is a Houston native who played college football for his hometown team. The Bills played in Cleveland over the weekend, but Oliver was not with the team due to a minor injury, according to ESPN and NFL Network reports.
