The International team established a three-point lead over the United States after the third day of the Presidents Cup at Medinah, positioning themselves to potentially win the event for the first time in 28 years.

The Internationals will begin Sunday's singles matches with a 10-5-7.5 advantage over the hosts. Despite facing deficits in every match at various points on Saturday, the team managed to hold off a spirited comeback from the U.S. squad.

During the morning four-ball session, the U.S. team gained momentum, winning two matches and tying another. However, the teams split the afternoon foursomes matches. The final match on the course saw Canada's Corey Conners secure a crucial tie by saving par on the 18th hole, preserving the International team's three-point lead.

"We were down in every match, and to come back and get one and a half points out of this morning, we felt that was a little victory because we were down everywhere," said International team captain Geoff Ogilvy. "This afternoon, the same thing happened. Team USA played so well all day. They played some really high-level foursomes, especially this afternoon. For the boys to somehow come back and pinch two points out of that and split the session was amazing."

The International team has secured only one Presidents Cup victory since the tournament's inception in 1994 and has never won on American soil.

Sunday's competition will feature 12 singles matches, with each team requiring 15.5 points to clinch the overall victory.
