Interactive 'Dune' Exhibit Brings Arrakis to Los Angeles
An immersive experience featuring props, costumes, and unseen footage from the film franchise will open in Downtown LA.
An interactive 'Dune' exhibit is set to open in Downtown Los Angeles, offering fans a chance to step into the world of the science fiction franchise. The experience, titled 'Dune: The Experience,' will run from late November through February in the Arts District at 330 S Alameda Street.
The exhibit arrives ahead of the December 18 release of 'Dune: Messiah,' the third film in the series. Visitors will encounter authentic props from the films, including Paul Atreides’ throne and a Navigator’s sarcophagus. The experience is designed to immerse attendees in the intensity of the 'Dune' universe.
'Dune: The Experience' will feature approximately a dozen rooms. Among these will be a screening venue showcasing unseen footage from the 'Dune' films and an interview with director Denis Villeneuve. Interactive elements will allow visitors to learn the Fremen walk and participate in the Bene Gesserit test by placing their hand into a mysterious box.
"I don’t want to spoil exactly what happens when you put your hand in the box, but it is intended to be somewhat shocking, participatory and to put people on edge," Rob Shalhoub, a team lead at Fever, which is producing the experience with Legendary Entertainment, told the LA Times. "It really immerses you into the intensity of these films, where you’re up close and personal with these characters."
The exhibit will also include a bar serving Dune-themed cocktails and food, as well as exclusive merchandise. Attendees can pose for photos with a "colossal" sandworm and navigate a labyrinth guided by floating glowglobes.
Tickets for 'Dune: The Experience' will go on sale October 7, with prices ranging from $30 to $45. A presale access waitlist is currently open.
