Intel Announces Layoffs in Santa Clara
Chipmaker files WARN notice impacting 52 manufacturing roles by end of September.
Intel Corporation is implementing a new round of permanent job reductions, with 52 manufacturing roles in Santa Clara, California, set to be eliminated by September 30. The semiconductor giant filed a California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) on September 18, detailing the upcoming layoffs.
The impacted facilities include Intel's main corporate headquarters at the Robert Noyce Building, located at 2200 Mission College Boulevard, which will see 22 employees laid off. Additional reductions will occur across three nearby Santa Clara offices: 24 staff members at the SC-12 location on 3600 Juliette Lane, five employees at the SC-9 facility at 3601 Juliette Lane, and one worker at the SC-11 office at 2191 Laurelwood Road.
These cuts add to a broader trend of layoffs within the tech industry in California. Earlier in September, PayPal announced the elimination of 251 jobs at its San Jose headquarters. In the same month, Oracle also began a new wave of layoffs, with affected employees reportedly receiving termination emails citing "broader organizational change." Additionally, Uber announced in September plans to reduce its global workforce by 10%, impacting approximately 3,300 employees.
