Inquest Opens Into Death of Suspect in 'Putney Pusher' Case

An inquest has opened into the death of Nicholas Brandram, a man who was a suspect in the incident referred to as the 'Putney Pusher' case. Brandram's family has asserted he was not responsible for pushing a woman into the path of a bus and have attributed his death to the Metropolitan Police's investigation.
The inquest heard that Brandram, a married banker, was found deceased in an upstairs room by his brother-in-law, who used a spare key to enter the property. Paramedics were called to the scene but were unable to revive him, and he was pronounced dead shortly before 9 p.m. The police initially determined his death to be unsuspicious, with no indication of third-party involvement.
Brandram's family has stated that he died by suicide following months of significant distress stemming from the Metropolitan Police investigation. They contend that there was no forensic evidence linking him to the incident.
The Metropolitan Police acknowledged the stress that can accompany being the subject of a police investigation. The coroner offered her condolences to Brandram's family during the hearing in Fulham.
