Influencers Criticized for Posing in Ambulance

A video circulating on social media has drawn widespread criticism after appearing to show influencers posing for photos inside an ambulance, even holding a cigarette, while paramedics prepared to transport a patient. The clip, which gained traction on TikTok and Reddit, depicts a man in a white outfit on the ambulance's gurney as a woman takes pictures.

In the background of the footage, medical personnel are seen working with a patient. An unidentified individual intervenes, pushing the pair away from the scene, which then allows emergency responders to load the patient into the ambulance.

Social media users expressed outrage at the apparent disregard for the emergency situation. Comments on Reddit included suggestions to replace the term 'influencer' with derogatory terms and pointed out the perceived entitlement of the individuals. One user noted the "extra entitlement when they seem unfazed by someone on the stretcher trying to get in the ambulance, an emergency vehicle…"

The incident was highlighted by a TikTok user known for calling out what they described as "harebrained behavior" from influencers. This user referred to the stunt as an example of "peak influencer dystopia," where individuals use their phones as a stage for "vapid" content.

Beyond the ethical concerns, the actions could have legal consequences. The notes reference California Penal Code section 148(a)(1), which prohibits delaying or obstructing police or emergency workers. Violations of this law can result in a misdemeanor charge, carrying a potential fine of $1,000 or up to a year in jail.

Some viewers initially questioned the authenticity of the video, with one commenter writing, "Surely this has to be fake. It has to be. For my sanity, it has to be."
