Ash Trevino, a social media influencer who gained notoriety for her online persona and alleged relationships with numerous prisoners, has been sentenced for fraud charges. Trevino, 37, was given two years of probation, ordered to complete 120 hours of community service, and pay a fine of $16,799.95.
Court documents revealed that Trevino had romantic relationships with an estimated 50 to 75 inmates incarcerated within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. These individuals were serving time for various violent offenses, including murder and aggravated robbery. The full timeline of these alleged relationships was not detailed, but details emerged during her sentencing for fraud.
Trevino pleaded guilty to charges of welfare fraud and fraudulent securing of document execution. She was arrested in Venus, Texas, in December of the previous year. The fraud scheme spanned from May 2019 to July 1, 2024. Prosecutors stated that Trevino used deceptive practices to obtain SNAP and Medicaid benefits, with the value of the illicitly obtained benefits totaling between $2,500 and $30,000.
The influencer faced potential prison time, up to two years for each felony charge. However, she was found to have violated her bail conditions in March. Authorities reported that Trevino consumed alcohol at a birthday party, a direct contravention of her bail stipulations, which prohibited her from visiting establishments that serve alcohol. She was subsequently taken back into custody before her sentencing.
Trevino maintains a significant online presence, with over 500,000 followers. She has previously cultivated a public image around her involvement with prisoners, often discussing what she termed "inmate hopping" online.
