Australian influencer Tilds Search, whose real name is Matilda Baxter, has ignited a wave of health concerns from her followers after showcasing the results of a controversial "Barbie Waist" surgery performed in Bali. The 23-year-old content creator shared a video on Saturday displaying her significantly cinched waistline, reportedly achieved through a procedure that reshapes the lower floating ribs without bone removal.
The video, featuring Search in lingerie, led to numerous comments expressing worry about her slimmed-down physique. "All I am seeing is the bones," one follower wrote, while another commented, "Omg I remember when I looked like this. I was so sick." Concerns about inadequate nutrition were also raised, with one user advising, "I'm not here to negatively judge but more protein and carbohydrates is needed. Stay safe and look after your health people."
Critics also accused Search of promoting unrealistic body standards. "This is disgraceful, to portray an image and encourage other young girls or women to think it's normal to look like this," one comment stated.
However, Search also received support from fans who defended her personal choices and praised her appearance. "Comments are NOT it. This woman is educated and makes her own informed choices. She is transparent AF! Don't like it? Roll on!" wrote one supporter. Another commented, "You look so beautiful you should be top model, Victoria's Secret!"
Search was among several influencers who traveled to Bali for the procedure as part of a sponsored campaign. The "Barbie Waist" surgery, which is not available in Australia, has become increasingly popular among influencers visiting Bali but has also drawn criticism from medical professionals and social media users concerned about its potential impact on beauty standards.
Earlier this month, "Married At First Sight" star Bec Zacharia also documented her experience with the rib-contouring procedure in Bali, sharing her decision-making process and eventual surgery with her followers. She initially asked for privacy before resurfacing with updates about her journey.
