Influencer Rebecca Zamolo has shared the extent of her husband Matt Slays' injuries following a barbecue accident. Zamolo, a 43-year-old content creator from Los Angeles, California, posted on Instagram about the incident, which resulted in Slays sustaining second-degree superficial burns to his face.
The accident occurred just hours before the couple was set to depart for Hawaii to celebrate Slays' birthday. Zamolo described the event as 'scary' and a "reminder how precious life is." She expressed gratitude for the support from friends in the medical field who have helped Slays in his recovery.
"He's extremely lucky as it could have been a lot worse, but we are taking it day by day. We love you Matt," Zamolo wrote in her post, which included images showing markings on Slays' face.
In a subsequent update shared via Instagram Stories, Zamolo reported significant improvement in Slays' facial burns over the past week, noting that his face was returning to normal, with the exception of his eyebrows. She added that he was in good spirits.
Matt Slays also commented on the post, stating he was doing much better and that the trip to Hawaii served as an optimal way to recover. Hundreds of followers offered messages of support and well wishes.
Rebecca Zamolo and Matt Slays, married since 2017, are known for their viral challenges and family-oriented content, which often features their two children, Zadie, aged four, and Xander, 11 months. The couple has a combined following of over 30 million on YouTube.
