Influencer Jennifer Burnham Reveals Son's Death From Incurable Brain Tumor
Burnham shares emotional details about her four-year-old son Baxter's battle with diffuse midline glioma, expressing the profound grief and uncertainty she faces.
Influencer Jennifer Burnham has shared the devastating cause of death for her four-year-old son, Baxter. In a heartfelt video posted to Instagram on Thursday, Burnham revealed that Baxter succumbed to an incurable brain tumor.
Burnham, who resides in California with her husband Bryce and their one-year-old son Barron, described the past week and a half as a "blur" and "overwhelming." She explained that Baxter had been a healthy and happy child, actively participating in school, T-ball, and karate before his diagnosis.
Diagnosis and Treatment
In April, the family received the shocking diagnosis of a diffuse midline glioma, a rare and aggressive cancerous brain and spinal cord tumor. Burnham noted that this type of tumor is considered inoperable and incurable within the brain tumor community. Baxter underwent surgery to remove part of the tumor, followed by targeted radiation.
The parents pursued various alternative therapies, including red light therapy, hyperbaric oxygen treatments, and oxygen baths. They also traveled to Europe twice in search of further treatment options. Despite consulting with numerous experts across America, their efforts to find a cure were unsuccessful.
"It's so difficult to watch your child going through something like this and you're literally helpless. It's every parent's worst nightmare," Burnham stated, describing their six-month ordeal as the most challenging period of their lives.
A Mother's Grief
Burnham expressed immense pride in her son's strength and fighting spirit, noting that he "fought until the very last day." She shared her experience in the hope of assisting other families facing similar circumstances, emphasizing that no one should endure such a tragedy alone. She finds solace in believing Baxter is in a better place, free from suffering.
"I'm not sure how to continue living every day because it is so hard to fathom my life without him because he was such a big full part of it," she admitted, her heart broken by the loss.
Earlier in the week, Burnham had posted a compilation video of Baxter, accompanied by a touching tribute. She announced that Baxter had become "Heaven's angel on Monday, October 5." She described him as her "dream come true" with an "angelic face and the sweetest personality," who loved his family, cars, chocolate chip cookies, karate, and picking flowers.
Burnham, who has amassed over 96,000 followers for her lifestyle content focused on motherhood and cooking, had celebrated Baxter's fourth birthday in January with a Hot Wheels-themed party. She expressed her love for her son and anticipation for his upcoming year, unaware of the tragic turn of events.
