Influencer Elle Adams Details Six-Year Struggle with Rare Bladder Condition

Instagram influencer Elle Adams, 33, also known as Elle Next Door, has detailed her six-year struggle with a rare bladder condition that left her unable to urinate. Adams first experienced the debilitating symptoms one morning six years ago, waking up with a complete inability to urinate.

For years, medical professionals dismissed her concerns, labeling her as an "anxious girl." This misdiagnosis led to significant distress and prolonged suffering as the underlying cause remained unidentified. Adams shared that she was terrified of what her future would look like and wished she had seen a story like hers sooner.

After enduring this for six years, Adams was eventually diagnosed with an incurable condition that primarily affects women. She was eventually given urodynamics testing in early 2022, a diagnostic procedure designed to assess how well the bladder, urethra, and surrounding muscles are functioning.

Adams described her initial hospital visit after waking up unable to urinate, presuming it to be a straightforward issue. Several hours after consuming water and still unable to urinate, she sought emergency care. During this period, she expressed horror at the suggestion that a catheter might be the only solution, admitting she was left in tears by the prospect.
