Influencer Couple Draws Backlash for Breakup Video

Influencer couple Madi Webb and Hannah England have been widely mocked online following their decision to announce their breakup via a video montage shared on Instagram.

Webb, 27, and England, 29, who began dating in March 2025 and amassed a joint following of over 948,000, documented their relationship extensively on social media. The announcement video, posted Tuesday, featured clips of the couple laughing and kissing, interspersed with footage of them crying together.

"The past two years keep flashing before my eyes," Webb wrote in the caption. "But sometimes loving someone also means knowing when your paths need to separate."

The video also included moments of England sobbing into Webb's shoulder, followed by tender gestures between them. Webb captioned the post, "So fking weird posting about a breakup, but we shared a lot of love on here so I guess I have to share this part too. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’ll never be the same. With all the love in my heart. This sucks bls."

While many fans expressed sadness over the news, a significant portion of viewers criticized the couple for filming and sharing such an intimate and emotional moment.

"I hate to be that person but how'd this go? Like, 'Hold on let me set up the camera and let's record each other break up?' It's a little weird," one commenter wrote. Others echoed this sentiment, calling the video "bizarre" and "absolute cringe."

Some viewers questioned the act of "making content of a breakup," with one stating, "I can’t imagine if I’m really upset about something propping up a camera, editing and posting so people can see how upset I am. Let’s stop trying to normalize it because it will never be normal."

However, other fans defended the pair, suggesting that as content creators, they are accustomed to filming their lives. "You understand that content creators literally are constantly filming right? And they probably just so happened to catch that moment," one user theorized. "It would’ve been weird if they were just a couple offline, but in their situation as they are influencers it’s not the same case as their relationship was very much public and had a lot of audience/followers."

England also shared her perspective in a separate video, stating, "This is not where I expected my life to be right before 30, but unfortunately, we're just ready for different levels of commitment right now. This is not for a lack of love. This has been the most beautiful love I've ever experienced. She's been my best friend and my everything for the last few years."

She added that she was "excited" to explore her identity outside of the relationship and that she had "no idea what comes next, but maybe that's the exciting part." In her caption, England emphasized that there was "no blame to place on either of us" and expressed gratitude for the love they shared.
