Influencer Alix Earle Faces Backlash for Claiming She's Never Read a Book

Social media influencer Alix Earle has drawn criticism after stating she has never read a book during a Q&A session with Interview magazine. The 25-year-old made the remark when asked by the magazine's editor-in-chief, Mel Ottenberg, about the last book she had read.
"I've never read a book," Earle responded, adding, "Like, maybe Dr. Seuss." The exchange was posted on Instagram.
Earle's statement quickly generated a strong reaction in the comments section of the post, with many users expressing disbelief and disappointment. Some critics questioned her educational background, while others lamented the perceived decline in literacy. One commenter wrote, "She’s never read a book? why are we listening to idiocy 😒 the world is beyond messed up."
Conversely, some fans defended Earle's candidness, with one user commenting that she is "funny and also magnetic asf… Can’t look away."
During the same Q&A, Earle also shared her views on other trending topics. She commented on the debate surrounding whether it is unprofessional for Gen Z to bring an iced coffee to a job interview, stating, "I don’t really see a problem with that. I guess that’s a Gen Z problem." Earle also playfully addressed a question about potentially rekindling a past relationship, hinting that a "no" might have been a fib.
Her previous relationship with NFL athlete Braxton Berrios, which ended in December 2025 after two years, was also a subject in her Netflix reality series, "Earle Meets World." The show revealed her attempts to reconcile with Berrios, who responded cryptically when asked about the possibility of them getting back together.
