A six-month-old boy was found dead in his Brooklyn home early Wednesday, according to police. The infant was discovered unresponsive shortly after midnight in a residence located near Flatlands Avenue and East 99th Street in the Canarsie neighborhood.
Emergency medical services transported the baby to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased, officials confirmed. Sources indicated that the infant showed no outward signs of trauma. The New York City Medical Examiner's office will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of death. Police are currently investigating whether the child's death is criminal in nature.
