British IndyCar driver Jack Harvey announced Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with cancer. The 33-year-old driver shared the news on social media, stating his intention to return to the race track in 2027, beginning with the season-opening race in St. Petersburg, Florida.

"My entire career has been about fighting for what’s next. The next opportunity. The next chance to prove myself," Harvey wrote in a statement. "Life has delivered a new fight to my doorstep. I have recently been diagnosed with cancer."

Harvey, a former British Formula 3 champion, remains focused on his racing ambitions. "My goals for 2027 have not changed. I plan to be on the grid in St. Pete and strapping back into a race car this May in preparation for the Indianapolis 500," he stated. "I am receiving excellent care and support from the team around me, my family, friends, DRR, FOX, INDYCAR and many more. I’ve never backed away from a challenge in my life and this circumstance is no different. So… Let’s fight."

Following his announcement, Harvey received widespread support from the motorsport community. Fellow drivers Conor Daly and Scott McLaughlin offered their encouragement on social media.

"We’re with you brother, you got this," Daly commented on Harvey's post. McLaughlin reposted the statement, adding "Love ya brother" and the hashtag "#jackstrong."

Colleagues at Fox Sports, where Harvey has worked as a pit reporter since the network became the IndyCar series rights-holder, also expressed their support. Harvey has also served as an analyst for Indy NXT races.

"My friend. My colleague. IndyCar Driver. We love you. We are behind you," wrote play-by-play and pit reporter Jamie Little. Reporter Bob Pockrass noted Harvey's "energy and passion and positive vibe" and expressed faith that these qualities will aid him in his fight.

Throughout his IndyCar career, which began in 2017, Harvey has competed in 93 races. His best finish was third place in the 2019 Indy road course race, and his best result in the Indianapolis 500 was ninth in 2020.
