Indianapolis Mom Kills Son, Self, Posted GoFundMe for Lindsay Clancy Family
Authorities are investigating the apparent murder-suicide of a 33-year-old mother and her 9-year-old son.
An Indianapolis mother, Shatayvia Alisha Calderon, 33, fatally shot her 9-year-old son, Julian, before taking her own life in an apparent murder-suicide, authorities said Monday.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police responded to a 911 call reporting two people shot at a condominium complex in the 4400 block of Village Lane shortly after 1 p.m. Officers discovered Calderon and her son unresponsive inside the residence. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, and a firearm was recovered.
Police have not released a motive for the incident but confirmed that investigators are interviewing a cooperative witness. The incident is believed to be a murder-suicide.
Nearly three years prior to the fatal incident, Calderon shared a GoFundMe campaign on Facebook for the family of Lindsay Clancy. Clancy, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, was on trial for allegedly killing her three young children in January 2023. Calderon's social media post described the situation as an “unimaginable tragedy” and invited support for Patrick Clancy, Lindsay Clancy’s husband.
Lindsay Clancy’s defense argued she was not guilty by reason of insanity, stating she suffered from severe postpartum psychosis. A mistrial was declared in Clancy's case in early September, and a new trial date has not yet been set.
