Indiana Mother Continues Search for Answers in Daughter's Unsolved Murder
Nearly a decade after Angie Barlow's disappearance and death, her mother expresses frustration with the lack of progress from local prosecutors.
Christina Kramer, mother of Angie Barlow, is pressing for answers 10 years after her daughter's unsolved murder in Indianapolis. Barlow, then 23, disappeared on Oct. 26, 2016, after texting her roommate that she was going to a private dancing gig at the Landmark Apartment and Townhomes.
Her remains were discovered nearly eight months later in a backyard off Harcourt in Indianapolis. Authorities later confirmed she had been fatally shot. Kramer has expressed frustration with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, stating she has not received updates on the investigation for approximately two years. She noted that a special prosecutor initially assigned to the case had left the office, leaving her without a point of contact.
Kramer told Fox News Digital that she has sent numerous emails to the prosecutor's office without response and has been unable to reach Marion County Prosecuting Attorney Ryan Mears. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Surveillance footage from the apartment complex showed Barlow's vehicle, a blue Pontiac G6, leaving the premises around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 27, 2016, followed by a black sedan. The footage did not provide clear images of the drivers due to tinted windows. Barlow's car was later found about eight miles from the complex, significantly altered from its usual condition, suggesting it had been driven under a fence.
Months after Barlow's disappearance, Kramer received a phone call from a female acquaintance who had been at the party with her boyfriend. Kramer believes this acquaintance made a taunting remark about Barlow's final words, though the acquaintance reportedly denied the call and conversation. Kramer stated that her daughter had accepted the gig for quick cash and that she would not have allowed it had she known who would be present.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has stated that no criminal charges have been filed in Barlow's death and that the investigation remains open. Detective Jose Torres is the lead investigator, but IMPD declined to comment further.
Barlow was remembered as a gifted athlete who excelled in multiple sports, including softball, basketball, volleyball, and bowling. She was the eldest of four sisters and maintained close relationships with them. Kramer emphasized her determination to continue seeking justice for her daughter, stating, "My daughter was the victim. She can't speak for herself. I'm her survivor. I'm her voice, and I speak for her."
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information to contact its homicide office at 317-327-3475. Tipsters can also anonymously contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
