Indiana Hoosiers Extend Win Streak to 21 Games with Dominant Victory Over Rutgers

The No. 6 Indiana Hoosiers continued their dominant run with a 47-15 victory over Rutgers on Saturday night in Piscataway, New Jersey, extending their win streak to 21 games. Running back Turbo Richard powered the offense with 204 rushing yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Josh Hoover contributed 251 passing yards and four touchdowns.

The Hoosiers, who last suffered a defeat in the opening week of the 2025 season, now hold the longest active winning streak in college football, matching Washington's streak from 2022-24. Indiana improved to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in Big Ten play, accumulating a season-high 593 total yards against Rutgers.

Richard, returning from an ankle injury sustained the previous week, showed no lingering effects, surpassing 200 rushing yards for the first time in his career without significant challenge from the Rutgers defense. Lee Beebe Jr. also contributed significantly to the ground game, adding 122 yards and a touchdown for Indiana, which has now scored at least 45 points in three games this season.

Receivers Nick Marsh and Charlie Becker were key playmakers in the passing game. Marsh recorded seven receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown, while Becker hauled in eight passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns. This marks the first time since 2024 that two Indiana receivers have achieved at least 100 receiving yards in the same game.

Rutgers, now 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the Big Ten, struggled offensively. Quarterback Dylan Lonergan, who transferred from Boston College where he played with Richard, exited the game midway through the second quarter with an injury. AJ Surace took over as quarterback. The duo combined for just 195 passing yards.

Rutgers' points came from touchdowns by Ben Black III and Clay Thevenin. The Scarlet Knights will look to rebound in their next game against Maryland.

Indiana's defense was equally impressive, holding Rutgers to just 59 rushing yards and nine first downs. The Hoosiers registered four sacks and eight tackles for loss, limiting Rutgers' offensive possessions.

Rutgers faces a challenging stretch of schedule with four losses already and upcoming games against difficult conference opponents, raising concerns about their postseason prospects for a second consecutive year.
