Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has become the subject of dating rumors following the emergence of photos on social media. The images, posted by the X account "Fever Updates," appear to show Cunningham with Frank Adams, the head athletic trainer for the men's basketball program at Grand Canyon University.
The photos were reportedly taken during a celebration for Cunningham's 30th birthday on September 7 in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. Cunningham shared an Instagram post on the same day, which featured her in a similar bikini and included a birthday cake.
Adams joined the GCU sports medicine staff in 2025, after previously serving six years as an assistant athletic trainer with the Phoenix Suns. Cunningham played for the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA from 2019 to 2024, during which time both the NBA and WNBA Phoenix franchises were owned by Mat Ishbia.
Cunningham and Adams have not publicly commented on the circulating rumors. The pair have been seen together at Grand Canyon University games earlier this year, as indicated by online photographs.
Cunningham recently attended the NASCAR Cup Series Enjoy Illinois 300 at WWT Raceway on Sunday. The WNBA is currently on a break for the FIBA World Cup, where the U.S. women's basketball team secured their fifth consecutive World Cup title by defeating France 97-79 on Sunday.
