Indiana Candidate Admits to Downing Three Beers Before Viral Interview
Jaime West, running for county council, stated she wasn't "that intoxicated" during a televised forum where she made controversial remarks.
Indiana Democratic candidate Jaime West has admitted to drinking three beers before participating in a televised interview that has since gone viral for her slurred speech and controversial statements. West, a candidate for county council in Fayetteville, made the admission during an appearance on "Piers Morgan Uncensored" on Monday.
During a local forum on October 9, West delivered a rambling monologue and stated her intention to fire all Republicans. Following widespread speculation that she was intoxicated during the event, West initially told Morgan she had consumed "a Coors Light." When pressed by the host, she amended her statement to "a couple" before finally admitting to having "three beers."
West attributed her nervousness and decision to drink to the fact that she was entering a room "full of Republicans." She maintained that despite her alcohol consumption, she was not "that intoxicated" and was aware of what she was discussing regarding Indiana politics. West also stated she was sober during her interview with Piers Morgan and stood by her previous remarks about Republicans.
