An illegal immigrant who worked as a soccer coach has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for using alcohol and drugs to sexually exploit children. Camilo Campos-Hurtado, a Mexican citizen residing in Franklin, Tennessee, pleaded guilty in June to charges including four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, receiving child sexual abuse material, and possessing fraudulent immigration documents.

Federal prosecutors had requested a 50-year sentence during the July 2 hearing. The Department of Homeland Security stated that if Campos-Hurtado is ever released, Immigration and Customs Enforcement will remove him from the country.

The investigation began in 2023 after a cellphone left at a Franklin business was found to contain explicit videos. The person who discovered the videos reported them to the Franklin Police Department. A subsequent search of Campos-Hurtado's residence and vehicle uncovered electronic devices with child sexual abuse material, as well as numerous counterfeit immigration and identification documents.

While the offenses for which he was convicted occurred between 2017 and 2021, forensic analysis indicated that Campos-Hurtado had been producing child sexual abuse material since at least January 13, 2013. The date of his illegal entry into the United States was not specified.
