Ilhan Omar Seeks Donations Amid Intensifying Immigration Status Probe
The Minnesota congresswoman released a video asking for financial support as federal agents investigate potential immigration fraud.
Rep. Ilhan Omar has appealed to supporters for campaign donations, stating the funds are needed to combat a federal investigation into her immigration status. The Democratic congresswoman, a member of the progressive "Squad," posted a video message on Tuesday night, appearing from inside a vehicle, as she remains largely out of public view following a federal probe that included a search of her home.
Omar thanked her supporters for their contributions, which she stated would help in the effort to "fight Trump and his administration for trying to intimidate me and so many other people right before the midterm elections." She asserted that "they’re running scared" and vowed that "we’re not going to be intimidated, we’re not going to be silenced, we’re not going to be scared."
"I’ll be out there campaigning alongside all of you and making sure that we beat back all of this and that we win in the midterms — win the House, win the Senate and hold this administration accountable," Omar said in the video. She concluded by expressing appreciation for continued support and asking for donations ranging from $5 to $20.
The fundraising appeal comes as federal agents have been investigating allegations of immigration fraud against Omar for years. Last week, agents reportedly seized her phone, notebooks, computers, and passport as part of this ongoing inquiry. Omar has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
The investigation reportedly could lead to Omar being deported to her native Somalia, according to reports. Homeland Security Investigations agents were seen leaving Omar's Washington, D.C., home on October 12, 2026, during the investigation.
